-The Speech Session of CPChain Co-founder and COO, Shi Qingwei
-Free discussion

Zoom Meeting
01 The Speech Session of CPChain Global Community Managers
  1. Korea Community Administrator, Kim YoungA

Kim YoungA
Hello everyone, I am CPChain Korea Community Administrator Kim YoungA. CPChain Korean KaKao community was established in early September. After the establishment of the community, we have organized online AMA and community airdrop activities, and we have received positive responses from our community users. Now, the KaKao community has more than one thousand members.
KaKao is a Korean social software that is currently used in more than 200 countries and it supports 12 languages. The KaKao community users are very diversified and the users are also very active. In the following three months, we will promote our CPChain community through various publicity channels to make CPChain Korea community stronger. We hope that the number of community members will be 2 or 3 times more than it is now.
According to the statistics, there are more than 4.5 millions Korean people who are crypto-currency holders. One in ten Koreans has been exposed to crypto currency and there are more than 72% among them are young people. Meanwhile, the fourth Industrial Revolutionary Committee of Korea has mentioned blockchain in the report: In the next Internet development wave, blockchain technology is closely related to national security, and it is necessary to strive to develop the Korean blockchain industry.
Therefore, CPChain community promotion in Korea has great potential of development. The Korean community prefers off-site communication. In the future, we will organize off-site meet up event according to the time of CPChain listing in Korean mainstream exchanges and we will also cooperate with the mainstream media channels and Korean blockchain authorities and experts to discuss cooperation and to promote CPChain in order to expand CPChain’s popularity in the Korean market. In addition, we will learn from other projects in Korea to develop CPChain Korean KaKao community through multi-channels and in various forms.
Thank you!
  1. Africa Community Manager, Hola

Hola
Hello. My name is Hola, I am the African CPChain community manager and I'm from Nigeria. First of all, I am very grateful for CPChain team for giving African community a good opportunity. The community development is really fast and there are many crypto currency enthusiast, investors and partners who have joined the Africa community.
Currently we have 630 members in the CPChain Africa community and we will expand CPChain community in other Africa regions in the future. African countries are no strangers to the use of digital solutions as a way to transfer money, nor to the rapid implementations of blockchain technologies. Blockchain technology adoption has been increased in Africa, for example, some countries in Africa already have Bitcoin ATM machines, like South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and other countries.
CPChain is going to organize an event in Nigeria, we are looking forward to this event. Our prospective partners and investors are very pleased with the solution we proposed. I am quite confident that they will adopt and understand it easily. Again, I am very grateful that CPChain team has expanded their products to Africa. I believe that Africa companies and related organizations will welcome this technology.
Thank you very much!
  1. Turkish Community Manager, Refik Yilmaz

Refik Yilmaz
I am Refik Yılmaz and I am the Turkish community manager. Being a part of the CPChain team makes me feel happy. If we analyze the general network traffic of crypto currency, we can see clearly that Turkey plays a major role in creating these traffics. At the same time, there is a Turkey exchange which has become a sponsor of a local football team and there is also a sport token which has established partnership with a local football team.
All these facts have given us a clear insight about the enthusiasm of Turkish people to crypto currency and Turkey people see it as a visionary project. CPChain has seen the enthusiasm of these people thus we create a community to provide information and support to them using local language. The efforts that CPChain has made to enter Turkey market has indicates that CPChain is a long-lasting trustworthy project.
Regarding to the community, instead of pumping it with passive members, we has made it an active group which is now expanding steadily with the growth of active users. We are confident to say that we are doing a good job.
In addition, there are many users who have helped us voluntarily to develop the CPChain community in Turkey, such as voting for binance dex or doing promotion activities on twitter. There are members who have joined CPChain for nearly one and a half year. Of course, there are still many other things that we can do for CPChain. So we will continue brainstorming with community members and we are open to collaborate with people from local society as well as the other communities. CPChain with its recent updates (CPCAC conference, partnerships and its IOT vision) has shown us that it is a promising project.
Thank you!
02 The Speech Session of CPChain Co-founder and COO, Shi Qingwei

Shi Qingwei
Hello everyone, I am glad to join the community governance conference again. I am Shi Qingwei, the co-founder and the COO of CPChain. First of all, I would like to thank Node Pacific for the well-organized preparation. The second Community Governance Conference has been proceeded as scheduled. After listening to the speeches of our Turkish, Africa and Korea community managers, I am quite touched.
People say that consensus is a key part of blockchain. But what kinds of consensus is it? On the one hand, it is a technical consensus which is the basic for the decentralization of blockchain; on the other hand, it is an ecology consensus which shows community members’ understanding and recognition to the mission and vision of CPChain and it has become an important indicator for the construction of ecological viscosity and user loyalty.
Three community managers have shared with us respectively what their ideal local community is like, how to plan and organize activities and how to maximize positive brand exposure in local community. You can really feel their belief and passion for the project from their talks. I think it is from their recognition to the value and concept of CPChian. We are very appreciated of that. We will start to plan the next Market Entry strategy with these local communities after the National Day.
With today’s opportunity, I would like to talk with you guys about the next step of the Foundation in global community construction. Most of you have seen that many localized communities of CPChain have been built gradually. There are hundreds of fans in both Africa and Turkish communities and there are more than 1000 fans in Korea community. Although these are not large in scale, they are very active communities and they use their own languages.
It is an attempt by us to build up global communities. It is low-cost, more user-friendly and the communication cost is reduced because of the use of local languages. Currently, these communities have achieved pure organic growth in principle. Considering the present market environment, we haven’t planned much promotion activities to boost the user growth. We are glad to see high-quality communication activities in these communities.
In the view of the successful launch of Korea, Turkish and Africa communities, the Foundation hopes to accelerate the construction of other CPChain localized communities. Therefore, we would like to take this chance to invite CPChain eco users to join the global community development project with us. We will send the official mission victory link to the public after the National Day which is around the corner.
By the time you can tell us what kinds of community you can do and what resources you have. The Foundation will make assessment to the proposals accordingly. Once we have decided which markets we are going to enter, we will cooperate with the proposers and give them appropriate rewards. We are now considering to build Arabic and Russia communities. But of course you are welcome to share your ideas with us.
03 Free discussion
Q1: What will the official team do to support the construction of overseas communities?
CPChain Wayne: I would like to emphasize that we see CPChain as a participant of the construction of global community rather than the director. CPChain community is a decentralized community. Everyone is welcome to make contribution and everyone is also a part of the decision makers. We will give financial support to the overseas communities, such as bounty and candy rewards. We will launch our global community construction plan after the National Day. Proposers can show us what resources, what language and what kinds of promotion plan you are able to do in the proposal. We will invite qualified proposers to help building the community and to increase the popularity of CPChain in the local society. After the implementation of the CPChain Global Community Construction Plan, we will offer help and support to the community contributors. We are open to all kinds of ideas and we will select the good advice from them.
Q2 : What kinds of rewards CPChain will offer to the community contributors, such as proposer, resource provider?
CPChain Wayne: We will have online and offline rewards. For most of the overseas community builders, we will deliver online rewards at the very beginning, such as airdrop and candy rewards. Let me take Africa Community as an example, the Africa community has experienced an organic growth during the past three weeks and it has more than 600 members at the moment. When the scale of the community has reached to a certain level like Africa communiyu, we think it is a good timing for us to launch offline rewards, such as meetup activity. Everyone who has made contribution to the community, for example, people who share resources, introduce partners or make good translation, is qualified to be awarded. They deserve it. We wouldn’t be hesitant to give them rewards.
Q3 : What is the next step for the Africa community future development?
Hola: We are now planing to promote our community through social media, such as Lindedin, Twitter, Telegram and so on. We also plan to organize events to attract investors and partners. The Africa community is growing fast every day and it is an active community. I believe that the Africa community will have a solid development. We will have an event which is scheduled to held in December or January with the aim of increasing people knowledge of Blockchain and CPChain project.
Q4 : When will CPChain be listed on Binance? Or what exchanges CPChain is going to be listed?
CPChain Wayne: Currently, we are applying to be listed on the exchanges. Binance is one of our applications. We are also applying for two top-tier exchanges but we couldn’t tell their names yet. We hope we can have some good news after the National Day. Huobi and OKcoin are two excellent exchanges but CPChain is not ready to be listed on these two exchanges since it will cost a lot. We will put them in our backup choices. We hope to be listed on big exchanges like Binance through DEX.
Q5 : What are your motivations to start CPChain project?
CPChain Wayne: First of all, I want to clarify that I am not the founder of CPChain project. I am not qualified to take the credits. The founder of CPChain is Dr. Long who has great vision about it. He believes that Blockchain is the chosen technology and it can solve the problems caused by the centralized system. He started CPChain in 2018 when the Bitcoin is worth of $ 20,000. And it is also the peak moment of the development of Blockchain technology. People are passionate about it and regard it as the game-changing technology. After the ups and downs of the blockchain market, the power that keeps pushing us forward is our belief in the CPChain. One of the good things of our team is that we constantly learn from our mistakes. We have never neglected the power of our community and we really hope that we can rely on our community to do the ecology construction. Thank you!

An in-depth analysis of the unique tokenomics of Lynchpin Token

An in-depth analysis of the unique tokenomics of Lynchpin Token

https://preview.redd.it/aemkiims8i131.jpg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f351fe00c8314ecf6d4a6204ee70ec7690ed4f1f
The Lynchpin Token project was created with a clear purpose in mind: to develop a universal utility token; a stable coin that can be used as a safe medium of exchange without being affected in any way by hype or speculation. The true value of our LYN token lies within a network built around its use. Our unique tokenomics model is based on several core elements: supply, demand, and the 18 decimal point of Ethereum’s ERC20 smart contract model.
Generally speaking, mining and staking are accountable for creating a new token supply. This creates inflation similar to fiat currency, and usually, the last person that purchased a certain coin or token gets affected the most. Bitcoin is the perfect example. Those that bought it $20,000 back in December 2017, now suffer the most. Rather than create a new token supply, we, at Lynchpin Token prefer to pay the gas fees linked to the Ethereum network.
In the following lines, we will try to answer several fundamental questions pertaining to our business model and unique selling proposition. We hope that the answers will help paint a clearer picture of the Lynchpin Token ecosystem, as well as our mission to bring real adoption using LYN token into the market.
We’ve pinpointed four fundamental industry problems in the world of cryptocurrencies. With LYN we can solve them.
1. Hype triggers speculation, leaving no room for real adoption to occur. From an economical perspective, hype creates a bubble that will eventually burst. By using LYN, we control keep the price under control with a low supply and a proprietary merchant adoption program to increase demand.
2. Cryptocurrencies don’t have any real value because there’s no viable story backing up a concept. Most projects offer a vision, an idea, or a concept that might work in the future. We’ve created an utility token with applied benefits now, in the present.
3. There’s no utility proposition to most cryptocurrencies because people can’t use ICO tokens to purchase physical goods. They’ll have to wait for that token to be listed on an exchange, trade it for BTC/ETH, and then trade again for cash. LYN token holders can use LYN to buy physical goods directly from our partners’ websites. (one of our signed partners, is upcoming e-commerce platform Go Buy Bid, but more merchants will be announced soon).
4. Most project issue new token supplies via mininr or staking, triggering inflation and inevitable corrections. LYN token has a limited supply of 5 million LYN (3 million will be locked for 12 months, leaving only 2 million in circulation). We’re not offering any free tokens via airdrops or bounties because we want to create more demand and ensure the constant increase in price of LYN.

Understanding token supply

It’s impossible to put a defined price or set a value on a cryptocurrency without first acknowledging current and future supply. A given coin’s supply plays a fundamental role in establishing a price, but we understand things can get confusing at times. A token’s market cap usually becomes affected by factors like circulating & maximum supply, inflation, lost tokens, airdrops, and more. Understanding circulating supply, as well as the way it uniquely related to a coin is an important part of performing due diligence.

How circulating supply vs. total supply works for LYN token

If you do a quick Google search for CoinMarketCap, you’ll come across thousands of digital coins, each with a different circulating supply listed. Given that each token is different, the circulating supply has to be weighed against that token’s eventual maximum supply.
We, at Lynchpin Token, have divided our tokenomics into two core sections:
• Total token supply: 5 million LYN
• Circulating token supply: 4 million LYN
The remaining 1 million LYN tokens from the total token supply is reserved for our internal team and partners. Following the completion of our ICO, there will be a lock-up period of 12 months on:
• 1 million LYN tokens
• 2 million LYN tokens reserved for our private sale
According to CoinMarketCap, “locked coins cannot be sold on the public market; therefore they do not affect the price of token, nor the market capitalization”. By locking a total amount of 3 million tokens in a safe escrow account for 12 months, we limit supply and increase demand for LYN tokens.
For our public sale, we have reserved 2 million LYN tokens. These are the tokens that won’t be locked away following the completion of our ICO; token holders that purchased LYN during the public sale are free to trade their LYN as soon as the token has been listed on major exchanges.
While we are aware that some people will dump LYN tokens following the ICO, our greatest advantage is the limited supply. After the 12-month lock-up period ends, we estimate LYN token to have already increased 10x, 20x times due to demand. Why we predict there will be tremendous demand for LYN tokens?

Understanding token demand

Token demand is directly linked to the way a token is used. Depending on each project’s business model, demand can either increase or decrease. Lynchpin Token aims to create utility by leveraging several proprietary products and programs:
• LynPay Debit Card solution developed in partnership with LynPay Payment Solutions Pte. Ltd. This debit card will allow you to convert your cryptocurrencies into fiat to make payments for goods and services. To subscribe for one of the cards you would need to buy with your LYN tokens.
• LynPay POS machines which our signed merchants will implement to perform cryptocurrency transactions. This would allow direct payment to merchants using cryptocurrencies (e.g. BTC, ETH, LYN).
• LynPay multi-currency wallet. Version 2.0 of the wallet would make it a one stop solution to do KYC, sell your cryptocurrencies on an exchange, use your debit card, use the wallet to make purchases via the POS machines.
• LynPay merchant adoption program (We have already partnered with upcoming e-commerce platform GoBuyBid, and game development company, RMP Games). LYN tokens will be the main spending currency in the near future.

How token demand works for Lyn token

Since demand goes hand in hand with supply, we’ve chosen to limit our LYN token supply to 5 million LYN tokens throughout our token sale event. We will not be issuing any new tokens to prevent inflation, and we will not have any free airdrops or bounties because we value our investors. Our number one priority is to limit supply to prevent unforeseen LYN token dumps following the completion of our ICO. We believe that a low token supply combined with proper marketing of our uses cases (LynPay Debit Card, POS machines, LynPay merchant adoption program) will create great demand for LYN tokens, leading to outstanding price increases.
In response to our community asking us why we chose to have a total token supply of 5 million LYN tokens, we reply:
“Our aim is to create stability for our LYN token, and we plan to do that by limiting our supply to 5 million tokens. Furthermore, a total amount of 3 million LYN tokens will be locked for 12 months, leaving a limited supply of 2 million LYN tokens for the public. To increase the price of LYN, we are focusing on building strong uses cases for our project, as well as leverage the Ethereum-based 18 decimal point to help increase the intrinsic value of LYN”.
In terms of marketing and community growth strategies, we chose to do cash-based campaigns only based on high-quality PR, content & social media marketing via our channels, events and meetups around the world where anyone can attend to ask questions about the project.
We chose not to set up free airdrops because we believe their scope is to onboard random people with no interest of being part of the Lynchpin Token community. We, at Lynchpin Token, aim to build a loyal community for our project.

Why did we choose the 18 decimal point for LYN token?

Ether, the main cryptocurrency of Ethereum, has 18 decimals. 1 ETH equals 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 wei, which provides greater precision. Basically, we don’t want to limit our users. Take the US dollar for example. The minimum you can own is $0.01; you can’t go any lower than that. Although it may not seem relevant now, we’ve decided to use the 18 decimal standard to allow as many users as possible to own LYN tokens and increase its value.
Although we understand that the zero (0) decimal standard is easier to assimilate, we believe it’s about which unit to use. With ETH, wei permits skipping decimals, meaning that you can’t go lower than 1 wei. Furthermore, preserving the same decimals eases smart contract programming because there’s no need to perform unit conversions (which provides 18 decimal precision).

Conclusion

Many ICOs these days include airdrops and free token giveaways as part of their marketing efforts. But their only goal is to hit their hard cap, not strengthen the community. We’ve seen the strategy backfire many times, because as soon as a coin/token reaches an exchange, it is immediately dumped. We strongly believe in creating a loyal community that truly believes in our project and can help protect it. We don’t offer LYN token packages at a certain amount, and we don’t have any requirements regarding a minimum amount required to purchase LYN tokens. We believe support can come in any form, and everyone can buy as little as 1 LYN token.
The cryptocurrency market is paved with thousands of cryptocurrencies. Before supporting any token, make sure that you understand its tokenomics first. We, at Lynchpin Token, believe that with a solid tokenomics we will be successful with solving the main problems in the industry today. With solid grounding on tokenomics , it will also allow us to be ready for growth and adoption. Any success in adoption will enhance the value for early supporters of the token not devalue it.

Verge Currency Beginner's Guide

Verge Currency Beginner's Guide
A short Background
2008 was the worst financial crisis the world had experience since the great depression. The efforts of banks worldwide were not enough to prevent its occurrence. Shortly after, someone by the name of Satoshi Nakamoto offered an alternative solution. A digital currency that removes the need for a central bank. His proposal written in the Bitcoin white paper, is summarized below:
  • A secure, decentralized network.
  • A system with economic properties.
  • No need for banks or rule makers.
  • Instant transactions without a need of a third party or government approval.
  • Bringing financial services to the unbanked 2.5 billion people.
  • Total financial freedom. No one can freeze your accounts.
  • Low transaction costs. No ridiculously high transaction fees.
  • A currency with finite amount where no one can print money whenever they want.
Bitcoin
In 2009, when Satoshi Nakamoto launched Bitcoin, the network consisted of computers (in crypto terms, these are called Nodes) to approve transactions, movements of data along the chain. This allows for everyone willing to become a participant, creating a decentralized global network. Allowing for a decentralized currency, free of the control of politicians, or institutions.
The rules can only be changed if 51% of the network agrees on it. This way the network is completely democratized and resistant to hacking attacks.
Unlike today’s financial institutions, no one can freeze your account or prevent you sending money. You are the only person who truly holds your wealth.
It is an open source project. Anyone can see the code and offer or discuss changes with the community. On the other hand, anyone participating to the network with computational power gets incentives or pay, with a fractional amount of BTC.
Blockchain
The core of a secure decentralized network like Bitcoin, lies the Blockchain technology. To put it simply, the blockchain is like a series of Lego, connected to each other by linking information, called transactions. These transactions contain the following data sender, receiver and the unique signature of the sender.
The data will be converted into “hash” before being saved into a block. The bitcoin hash is generated using a set of cryptographic functions called sha256. This way the information is encrypted, is compressed and saved in the block.
Additionally, each block in the chain, contains the information from the block before it. This ensures that if someone tries to maliciously modify information in a block, all the block following this attempt will be changed, making it easier to spot.
Each block includes the information from the previous block. If someone wants to maliciously change the information in one block that change the complete result of all following blocks.
In this type of network there is only one blockchain, and all the information is kept in a public ledger which is shared amongst all the participating networks. For the blockchain to be valid, more than 50% of the participants (nodes and their computational power) must agree with it.
Bitcoin Today (2018)
Until today many, many, events have happened. The network has grown massively. The underlying code is improved in many ways. There are more and more developers and investors that have entered the cryptocurrency space.
Currently there are proposed changes being developed to the Bitcoin network that will make bitcoin rival the centralized networks of today (Visa, Mastercard), while significantly lowering the cost of these transaction.
Many alternative cryptocurrencies have been created along the way, improving some of the aspects of the bitcoin and focusing on certain applications, in the crypto-space, we call them altcoins.
WHY VERGE
The way that Bitcoin function, has severe flaws with regards to privacy:
  • Public Ledger: The transaction information is public, meaning, that transactions can be linked to a person.
  • IP Leakage: A persistent and motivated attacker will be able to associate your IP address with your bitcoin transaction.
Due to the above reasons, it was clear that there would be a need for a privacy coin. Different coins were then created that had this problem in mind. They were ‘too private’ in the sense that they completely by-passed the public ledger. The public ledger allows merchant to provide proof of transactions, which is important for bookkeeping.
Enter Verge Currency, formerly Dogecoindark; which offers transaction on the ledger, both public and private. Allowing the user to choose if the transactions are public or private.
VERGE CURRENCY
2014 saw the birth of Dogecoin Dark; in 2016, it was rebranded to Verge Currency.
Verge improves upon the original Bitcoin blockchain and aims to fulfill its initial purpose of providing individuals and businesses with a fast, efficient and decentralized way of making direct transactions while maintaining your privacy.
What is the Verge Currency Mission?
Verge Currency aims to empower people around the globe using blockchain in everyday life and makes it possible for people to engage in transactions quickly, efficiently and privately. With Verge, business and individuals now have flexible options for sending and receiving payments.
Verge Currency also offer helpful integrations and tools that enable them to handle large scale transactions between merchants and small-scale private payments.
Is Verge Currency a private company and how is it funded?
Following in the spirit of Bitcoin, Verge is an open-source software, and a community. It is not a company, never had an ICO. The development is entirely funded by the community and the developers. Currently Verge is looking into setting up an official Verge merchandise store, and an Official Verge mining pool, for multiple algorithms.

Decred Journal — June 2018

Note: You can read this on GitHub, Medium or old Reddit to see the 207 links.

Development

The biggest announcement of the month was the new kind of decentralized exchange proposed by @jy-p of Company 0. The Community Discussions section considers the stakeholders' response.
dcrd: Peer management and connectivity improvements. Some work for improved sighash algo. A new optimization that gives 3-4x faster serving of headers, which is great for SPV. This was another step towards multipeer parallel downloads – check this issue for a clear overview of progress and planned work for next months (and some engineering delight). As usual, codebase cleanup, improvements to error handling, test infrastructure and test coverage.
Decrediton: work towards watching only wallets, lots of bugfixes and visual design improvements. Preliminary work to integrate SPV has begun.
Politeia is live on testnet! Useful links: announcement, introduction, command line voting example, example proposal with some votes, mini-guide how to compose a proposal.
Trezor: Decred appeared in the firmware update and on Trezor website, currently for testnet only. Next steps are mainnet support and integration in wallets. For the progress of Decrediton support you can track this meta issue.
dcrdata: Continued work on Insight API support, see this meta issue for progress overview. It is important for integrations due to its popularity. Ongoing work to add charts. A big database change to improve sorting on the Address page was merged and bumped version to 3.0. Work to visualize agenda voting continues.
Ticket splitting: 11-way ticket split from last month has voted (transaction).
Ethereum support in atomicswap is progressing and welcomes more eyeballs.
decred.org: revamped Press page with dozens of added articles, and a shiny new Roadmap page.
decredinfo.com: a new Decred dashboard by lte13. Reddit announcement here.
Dev activity stats for June: 245 active PRs, 184 master commits, 25,973 added and 13,575 deleted lines spread across 8 repositories. Contributions came from 2 to 10 developers per repository. (chart)

Network

Hashrate: growth continues, the month started at 15 and ended at 44 PH/s with some wild 30% swings on the way. The peak was 53.9 PH/s.
F2Pool was the leader varying between 36% and 59% hashrate, followed by coinmine.pl holding between 18% and 29%. In response to concerns about its hashrate share, F2Pool made a statement that they will consider measures like rising the fees to prevent growing to 51%.
Staking: 30-day average ticket price is 94.7 DCR (+3.4). The price was steadily rising from 90.7 to 95.8 peaking at 98.1. Locked DCR grew from 3.68 to 3.81 million DCR, the highest value was 3.83 million corresponding to 47.87% of supply (+0.7% from previous peak).
Nodes: there are 240 public listening and 115 normal nodes per dcred.eu. Version distribution: 57% on v1.2.0 (+12%), 25% on v1.1.2 (-13%), 14% on v1.1.0 (-1%). Note: the reported count of non-listening nodes has dropped significantly due to data reset at decred.eu. It will take some time before the crawler collects more data. On top of that, there is no way to exactly count non-listening nodes. To illustrate, an alternative data source, charts.dcr.farm showed 690 reachable nodes on Jul 1.
Extraordinary event: 247361 and 247362 were two nearly full blocks. Normally blocks are 10-20 KiB, but these blocks were 374 KiB (max is 384 KiB).

ASICs

Update from Obelisk: shipping is expected in first half of July and there is non-zero chance to meet hashrate target.
Another Chinese ASIC spotted on the web: Flying Fish D18 with 340 GH/s at 180 W costing 2,200 CNY (~340 USD). (asicok.comtranslated, also on asicminervalue)
dcrASIC team posted a farewell letter. Despite having an awesome 16 nm chip design, they decided to stop the project citing the saturated mining ecosystem and low profitability for their potential customers.

Integrations

bepool.org is a new mining pool spotted on dcred.eu.
Exchange integrations:
Two OTC trading desks are now shown on decred.org exchanges page.
BitPro payment gateway added Decred and posted on Reddit. Notably, it is fully functional without javascript or cookies and does not ask for name or email, among other features.
Guarda Wallet integrated Decred. Currently only in their web wallet, but more may come in future. Notable feature is "DCR purchase with a bank card". See more details in their post or ask their representative on Reddit. Important: do your best to understand the security model before using any wallet software.

Adoption

Merchants:
BlueYard Capital announced investment in Decred and the intent to be long term supporters and to actively participate in the network's governance. In an overview post they stressed core values of the project:
There are a few other remarkable characteristics that are a testament to the DNA of the team behind Decred: there was no sale of DCR to investors, no venture funding, and no payment to exchanges to be listed – underscoring that the Decred team and contributors are all about doing the right thing for long term (as manifested in their constitution for the project).
The most encouraging thing we can see is both the quality and quantity of high calibre developers flocking to the project, in addition to a vibrant community attaching their identity to the project.
The company will be hosting an event in Berlin, see Events below.
Arbitrade is now mining Decred.

Community Discussions

Community stats: Twitter followers 40,209 (+1,091), Reddit subscribers 8,410 (+243), Slack users 5,830 (+172), GitHub 392 stars and 918 forks of dcrd repository.
An update on our communication systems:
Jake Yocom-Piatt did an AMA on CryptoTechnology, a forum for serious crypto tech discussion. Some topics covered were Decred attack cost and resistance, voting policies, smart contracts, SPV security, DAO and DPoS.
A new kind of DEX was the subject of an extensive discussion in #general, #random, #trading channels as well as Reddit. New channel #thedex was created and attracted more than 100 people.
A frequent and fair question is how the DEX would benefit Decred. @lukebp has put it well:
Projects like these help Decred attract talent. Typically, the people that are the best at what they do aren’t driven solely by money. They want to work on interesting projects that they believe in with other talented individuals. Launching a DEX that has no trading fees, no requirement to buy a 3rd party token (including Decred), and that cuts out all middlemen is a clear demonstration of the ethos that Decred was founded on. It helps us get our name out there and attract the type of people that believe in the same mission that we do. (slack)
Another concern that it will slow down other projects was addressed by @davecgh:
The intent is for an external team to take up the mantle and build it, so it won't have any bearing on the current c0 roadmap. The important thing to keep in mind is that the goal of Decred is to have a bunch of independent teams on working on different things. (slack)
A chat about Decred fork resistance started on Twitter and continued in #trading. Community members continue to discuss the finer points of Decred's hybrid system, bringing new users up to speed and answering their questions. The key takeaway from this chat is that the Decred chain is impossible to advance without votes, and to get around that the forker needs to change the protocol in a way that would make it clearly not Decred.
"Against community governance" article was discussed on Reddit and #governance.
"The Downside of Democracy (and What it Means for Blockchain Governance)" was another article arguing against on-chain governance, discussed here.
Reddit recap: mining rig shops discussion; how centralized is Politeia; controversial debate on photos of models that yielded useful discussion on our marketing approach; analysis of a drop in number of transactions; concerns regarding project bus factor, removing central authorities, advertising and full node count – received detailed responses; an argument by insette for maximizing aggregate tx fees; coordinating network upgrades; a new "Why Decred?" thread; a question about quantum resistance with a detailed answer and a recap of current status of quantum resistant algorithms.
Chats recap: Programmatic Proof-of-Work (ProgPoW) discussion; possible hashrate of Blake-256 miners is at least ~30% higher than SHA-256d; how Decred is not vulnerable to SPV leaf/node attack.

Markets

DCR opened the month at ~$93, reached monthly high of $110, gradually dropped to the low of $58 and closed at $67. In BTC terms it was 0.0125 -> 0.0150 -> 0.0098 -> 0.0105. The downturn coincided with a global decline across the whole crypto market.
In the middle of the month Decred was noticed to be #1 in onchainfx "% down from ATH" chart and on this chart by @CoinzTrader. Towards the end of the month it dropped to #3.

Microsoft acquired GitHub. There was some debate about whether it is a reason to look into alternative solutions like GitLab right now. It is always a good idea to have a local copy of Decred source code, just in case.
Status update from @sumiflow on correcting DCR supply on various sites:
To begin with, none of the below sites were showing the correct supply or market cap for Decred but we've made some progress. coingecko.com, coinlib.io, cryptocompare.com, livecoinwatch.com, worldcoinindex.com - corrected! cryptoindex.co, onchainfx.com - awaiting fix coinmarketcap.com - refused to fix because devs have coins too? Welcome to this week's BAT Community Update! Big thanks to u/MurphD for his excellent contributions!
BLOG: “Civic to Offer Secure Identity Verification Services on the Brave Publisher Platform”
Civic, the global digital identity leader, and Brave, an innovative privacy browser combined with a blockchain-based digital advertising platform, will collaborate to provide Civic’s identity verification services to Brave’s verified publishers. Publishers will have the option to use Civic identity verification and other Know Your Customer (KYC) services in order to securely collect the Basic Attention Tokens (BATs) earned via the Brave browser and the BAT platform.
There are currently over 21,000 Brave-verified publishers, and 4 million monthly active users of the Brave browser. Brave users can opt to anonymously and automatically reward publisher content by donating BATs through the integrated Brave Payments system in the browser. In the future, publishers who provide their own Ethereum wallets to receive BAT payments will have the option to use Civic Reusable KYC to verify identity and ensure authenticity. Publishers will benefit from convenient, secure, and private identity verification through the Civic app.

Medium article from fellow BAT Community member, Daniel Colin James: “The Attention Revolution: Your next browser will pay you”
You’re about to witness a movement that will make the shift from desktop to mobile look boring. Google and Facebook amass staggering amounts of money by harvesting your data and charging advertisers for your attention, but that’s going to change very soon.
The power is about to shift from the tech giants of Silicon Valley to the foot soldiers of the internet: me and you.

I would not be surprised if our users can make $70/year as we bring the system up in 2019 -- when ad deals will be harder to come by and we'll subsidize revenue from BAT's User Growth Pool -- and climb by 2020 to above .7 * 320 or $224 net user revenue per year. See the full comment here:

Brave lacks a communication channel between the author and browser user… For now. :)
Hello @bobpoekert Replying to @BrendanEich @brave but what it doesn't have (and what makes patreon different from flattr) is a special communication channel between the author and the consumer. people give money to patreon because they feel a personal connection to the author & patreon optimizes for that

BAT/Brave in the News:

As Brave Gears Up to Weaponize Privacy, Google Becomes Its Primary Target
Representatives of Brave, the Open Rights Group and University College London filed simultaneous complaints with Data Protection Authorities (DPA) in the U.K. and Ireland under GDPR rules. The concerned parties are seeking a pan-European investigation into the practices of just about every ad-tech company—Google, in particular—in a challenge that will have far-reaching implications for the media business if successful.
https://www.adweek.com/programmatic/as-brave-gears-up-to-weaponize-privacy-google-becomes-its-primary-target/

Popular Science Features Brave in the article “Ditch your phone's built-in web browser for these seven alternatives”
We do a lot of our web browsing through our phones: More than half of site visits originate with mobile devices. Android and iOS phones both come with default browsers made by the platform's developers. On Android, Google Chrome takes pride of place, while iPhones and iPads rely on pre-installed versions of Apple's Safari. However, these are far from your only choices. Just like your computer, your phone offers a variety of options to help you navigate the internet. We collected seven feature-packed web browsers that protect your privacy, reduce your data use, boost your speed, and more.

News You Should Know:

Apple moves to thwart Facebook tracking
Facebook and other companies routinely track your online surfing habits to better target ads at you. Two web browsers now want to help you fight back in what’s becoming an escalating privacy arms race. New protections in Apple’s Safari and Mozilla’s Firefox browsers aim to prevent companies from turning “cookie” data files used to store sign-in details and preferences into broader trackers that take note of what you read, watch and research on other sites.
https://mashable.com/article/apple-safari-browser-block-facebook-cookies/

Uninformed Consent
Technology has advanced far beyond the browser cookies and retargeting that allow ads to follow us around the internet. Smartphones now track our physical location and proximity to other people — and, as researchers recently discovered, can even do so when we turn off location services. We can disable the tracking on our web browsers, but our digital fingerprints can still be connected across devices, enabling our identities to be sleuthed out. Home assistants like Alexa listen to our conversations and, when activated, record what we’re saying.
A growing range of everyday things — from Barbie dolls to medical devices — connect to the internet and transmit information about our movements, our behavior, our preferences, and even our health. A dominant web business model today is to amass as much data on individuals as possible and then use it or sell it — to target or persuade, reward or penalize. The internet has become a surveillance economy.

A very interesting people here in Kiev. In the city center, I would say 50% speak English and 30% speak English well - the large majority speak Russian. My Uber driver from the airport spoke no English. 5 of my 12 days in Kiev I spent handing out fliers for the Monero Event I hosted. I passed out 300 fliers, interacting with at least 1000+ people in this process. Of the people I interacted with, 20% were familiar with Bitcoin and a significant percent of that group were enthusiastic about cryptocurrencies.
Independence Square
The main areas in Kiev are all accessible by foot. It was not unusual for me to walk 4 miles in one day passing out fliers, walking from people cluster to people cluster. There are several main areas of where people congregate:
  • From Arena City to Independance Square along Khreshchatyk Street
  • Near the National University Of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy
  • From Vozdvyzhenka to St. Andrew's Church
  • The Gulliver Mall
  • UBK Beach
People's Friendship Arch View
This is the flier I passed out to 300 people
Additionally the Blockchain Hub hosted an event on 17.7.18 that I went to where I made some new friends and advertised the meetup I was organizing. One of those friends spent 8 hours helping me translate my English Monero Presentation into Russian. Here is the link to the Google Slides English/Russian Presentation. I would say I spent a solid 20 hours working on the presentation. On the days I passed out fliers, I would alternate between 3 hours of passing out fliers and 3 hours inside working on the presentation.
I passed out fliers from 17.7.18 until 21.7.18. For every flier that I successfully passed out, I had on average 2 people reject the flier on the basis of disinterest, no interest, or language barrier. Most of the 300 fliers were passed out to groups of size 2-3. Many of the people who accepted the flier were also excited about cryptocurrency, said they would attend, and asked for another flier to give to their friend.
Seven people showed up to the event. Most of these 7 came either directly from the Blockchain Hub event or were a friend that those same people brought. No one that I gave a flier to came to the event. I have a recording of the event but the quality is actually quite poor. The recording does include the post-presentation discussion where I answered deeper questions about how Bitcoin works and how maybe at some point in the future the price of Bitcoin might closely correlate with the price of energy. I was explaining all this and technical functions like Bitcoin nonce hashing to a Russian only speaking attendee through my friend who would translate English/Russian. It was very helpful that my friend already has a solid foundation in how cryptocurrencies work.
Next stop on my trip is Brussels, Belgium where I hope to build from this Monero Mission trip and further spread the good word of Monero.

Introducing KAMBRIA - A Platform that Fuels Robotics & AI Future

KAMBRIA - Fueling the Robotics & AI Future
Overview
Our mission is to accelerate the process of robotics innovation, enabling faster, cheaper, and easier robotics development and adoption by everyone.
In order to achieve this vision, we are contributing our robot Ohmni, consisting of a robotics repository, high level behavioral library, and modular components as the basis for an open robotics innovation platform.
We named the platform Kambria, after the Cambrian Explosion, 500 million years ago, when an accelerated evolutionary rate gave rise to biodiversity and abundance. We believe this platform will be the catalyst for a similar explosion in Robotics.
Technology
The Kambria Architecture is made up of five pillars: Codebase (KDNA), innovation marketplace, the manufacturing alliance, value capture, and legal protection. Each directly addresses the shortfalls of modern robotics and is designed to maximize the game theoretic incentives.
Interactions on the platform are facilitated by the Kambria Token (KAT), Maker Credit, and Kambria Karma. KAT is a native ERC20 utility token. Its main functions are to enable access to the Kambria platform, reward participation, and align incentives for all stakeholders in the ecosystem. As with any ERC20, KAT will be listed on exchanges and can be traded for other cryptocurrencies.
Maker Credit and Kambria Karma are not ERC20 tokens, but rather non-tradeable ledger entries for every wallet address. Karma is used to track actual work performed. It is also an incentive to promote useful work and is awarded for concrete contributions. Credit is similar to reward point or "cash back”. Its purpose is to stimulate transactions and spendings in the ecosystem.
Users Benefit from Kambria Increase innovation rate Large scale reuse and sharing of technology can reduce costs and make robots more affordable Robotics technology as a social good, accessible to everyone
Token Holder Perks Program
A large community of roboticists together is valuable resource. Based on this, the Kambria Foundation will negotiate and manage a perks program for all token holders, such as discounted access to makerspaces, coworking spaces, or parts/tools/supplies.
To participate in the program, you only need to hold a minimum of one KAT in a wallet and be able to validate ownership of that wallet. Subsequent tiers ($500+, etc.) will give you access to additional perks/discounts as the Foundation negotiate them. More details will be announced in the future.
Phases and Milestones
January 2018 - May 2018: Kambria Alpha Deploy key smart contracts on testnet. Have GitHub repos linkable to the testnet contracts. Open up OhmniLabs’ 3d printing and waterjet aluminum processes to ensure KDNA orders are fabricated into real world parts as fast as possible. Work with roboticists and groups around the world to start sharing KDNA and evolving the tools and processes as needed. Ohmni robots available to order as a base platform. Continue building out APIs and SDKs based on needs and engage other roboticists in guiding the development. Start initial bounties for add-ons, enhancements and other valuable technology contributions to Kambria. These may start off-chain and move to on-chain once the smart contracts are ready.
June 2018 - December 2018: Kambria Beta Open up smart contracts on mainnet. Open up major subcomponents of Ohmni with appropriate licensing transferred from OhmniLabs. Motor drives, touchscreen and display, USB, embedded system, battery charging, vision algorithms, etc. Be able to view these pieces (and those contributed by others) in the code base and remix/work on integrating them into new forms. Collaborate with other teams on demos showing what can be created. Receive real KDNA or fiat orders for these parts on the main chain and send back completed parts. Issue some initial real bounties on mainnet and start bringing the new technology into Kambria codebase for all to share.
Q1 2019: Full release Full release of Ohmni in the Kambria codebase. Entire KDNA and open for full remixing. All bounty systems and Dapps active, released, and usable.
